Toy Fair ‘08Posted by Bob on Fire

For those of you that do not know, I am a geek. I love toys. Always have and always will. So for the past 2 years I have gone to the epicenter for toys, The New York City Toy Fair. It’s amazing. You get to see everything that is coming out almost a year in advance. All the way from a super pogo stick that you can do back flips on, to a tiny little booth with 2 Asian guys selling all sorts of electronic Santa figures. Which explains why when you’re out at places like Wal-Mart you see things like a robot Santa with a hula-hoop. Ludicrous. Anyway. The thing I got the most giddy about was the surge of vinyl toys this year. They are getting bigger and sweeter looking. The Smash figures designed by artist Joe Ledbetter were there in all of their glory. I think I made some connections and might just score me a pink candy one! Alright! But not to leave out my favorites: the Ninja Turtles. Oh my sweet butterscotch. They finally made the original looking Turtle figures from the 80’s comics. They are unbelievable looking! I so have to get 2 of each guy. One to play with and one to display in the package of course, hah! I need more shelves, dammit!
