Movie Monday

Hello everybody,

I watch a lot of movies and try to keep up with what’s going on in the business. So I figured I will start (every Monday) to give my thoughts on the recent movie scene.

First off, The Oscars. The best part by far was staring at host John Stewart for hours. But I won’t go into details about my man crush or the fashion faux pas such as Nicole Kidman who looked like a Christmas tree with tinsel tossed on her. Overall, it was not a bad show. If they really want people to care about The Oscars again, then they need to get off of their high horse and involve more movies that people really care about. Don’t litter the show with a bunch of foreign films and just plain old movies nobody has even heard of, or seen. If I say Marion Cotillard won for best actress and you ask “who?”, I have proven my point. I mean, why should the Oscars have better standards than the Kids’ Choice Awards. Who the hell are they, right? Although I am happy for the people from Once. They are so in love and that song is great.

As for movies that are out now:

Jumper gets a thumbs up. Not as bad as I thought it would be. Still need to see Definitely Maybe (Ryan Reynolds is hot and I don’t care what you say.), Step Up 2 (sweet dancing and the girl is very cute), Be Kind Rewind (big Mos Def fan), and Vantage Point (crazy cast and it looks really good as long as it isn’t predictable.)

Also coming out this week, I want to see Semi-Pro. I understand a lot of people are tired of Will Ferrell, but you have to give him credit; He does what he does very well. And let’s face it, his movies are as close as you’re ever going to get to laughing right at a retarded person without getting yelled at by the P.C. police.

Don’t litter the show?! LITTER?!!! What about Freeheld winning Best Documentary, Short Subjects? That’s the one about the lesbian cop from Point Pleasant who was dying of cancer and trying to have her pension given to her partner. Stupid NJ politics…but I won’t ruin the ending for you. Anyway, if you haven’t seen it, do so. It’s well done and quite powerful. I mean, it DID win an Oscar (if that still means anything).
