Back here for another Movie Monday. I swear the only thing that gets me through work on Mondays is writing this post. ANYWAY! I recently caught the film Be Kind Rewind. To be honest I was a little skeptical at first, cos it was directed by Michel Gondry who did films like The Science of Sleep and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Both good movies, but with The Science of Sleep, I felt he focused more on trying to be super-crazy-artsy rather then have a real good story. He definetly pulled it off in this one though. It had a great mix of a sweet cast, good humor and amazing “special effects.” The first movie the characters remake or “swede” if you will is Ghost Busters. After they come into the library with fishing poles and Christmas garland the movie just takes off from there. Although it does start off a little slow and you kind of wonder if it will be just another crazy, Jack Black movie with air guitars and kids but it ends up coming together very nicely. Highly recommended.

Also, you should definitely pick up 30 Days of Night, just out on DVD. It’s not another run of the mill vampire, horror movie. Basically it takes place in a town in Alaska where they have 30 days of darkness. Oh, I bet you didn’t see that coming. And the vampires come and tear the heck out of this town. Great set up in the movie, based on a pretty cool comic.

PS. Ryan Reynolds is playing assassin Deadpool in the upcoming X-Men Origins: Wolverine movie! AND The Smurfs are coming to the big screen in CGI!
