Movie Monday

And yes, I know it’s Tuesday.

So this past weekend I saw 2 movies, and both were surprising hits in my book. I went into both of them expecting a decent flick, and was treated instead to excellent films.

Run Fat Boy, Run and The Bank Job are 2 pieces of fried, English gold. One was a hilarious romantic comedy that had me laughing out loud, while the other was a gripping caper job, with a noir AND a spy twist. Run, Fat Boy Run starred Simon Pegg (of Shaun of the Dead) and Hank Azaria (The Bird Cage, Mystery Men), with a script by Pegg and Michael Ian Black (of The State fame) and directed by Friends‘ David Schwimmer. And holy crap, it showed. All these great talents really came together for a terrific comedy. And Thandie Newton? So hot.

As for The Bank Job, it was just a fast-paced heist movie full of twists and what seemed like a hopeless situation for the heroes (villains?), and only getting worse. Definitely worth the $10.

God I love my British movies…

Oh my god. When Simon Pegg fell down the stairs after his cycle class and went face first, I almost died laughing. What an amazing fall. Bravo to that stunt man.
