Saw the following movies: Get Smart, The Love Guru, and The Promotion. Also Wristcutters on DVD.

Get Smart was a lot better than I expected it to be. All the actors were pretty on top of their game, especially Alan Arkin. That man is a genius actor. GENIUS.

The Love Guru wan’t as good as I hoped. I laughed a lot throughout the whole thing, especially the Guru’s book titles. (If You’re Happy and You Know it, Think Again.) However, I thought the plot was a bit off and the movie seemed to stumble along to a conclusion. Plus, did the Guru really need a love interest? Is anybody seeing that movie and going “Aww…Mike Myers in an insulting Indian caricature making out with Jessica Alba…aww…) I say thee nay.

And The Promotion. It was different, but funny. Not outrageous funny, but the director knows how to frame a joke. Seann William Scott was good in a role that didn’t require him to string curses together or get hit in the groin, and John C. Reilly was a very convincing Canadian.  “In Canada we say cracking. Cracking the cheese…” Classic.

And Wristcutters was a great flick. Freakin’ weird, but chock full of sweet character actors, and a beautiful feel. Patrick Fugit doesn’t appear in a lot of movies, but the ones he does are always excellent. Gotta respect that. Also…yay for Tom Waits and plenty of music by Gogo Bordello.

All worth paying too much for a couple hours of entertainment!
