After watching A Charlie Brown Christmas, I got to wondering…I wonder what the future held for a grown up cast of Peanuts? This is how it is in my head: I imagine Charlie Brown as the hopeless romantic…more in love with the idea of love then any one girl he’ll ever meet. After an especially bad break up with Lucy, he’s now the frontman/ songwriter for a techno rock band, turning all the loneliness and angst into gold records. You’re kids probably have his album. Lucy? She’s a therapist of course. And married to Schroeder, a concert pianist and composer. And though she’ll never love him with the passion she had for Charlie Brown, Schroeder’s dependable, and has always been there for her. Linus is a lawyer, and community planner. He works in inner cities, and made his blanket into a tie in order to hide his dependency. He’s being prepped by the DNC for a possible Senate campaign. He tried to make it with Sally, but she wanted more out of life than charity work and a modest income. Peppermint Patty and Marcy? Not hard to imagine. Pig Pen’s in prison on drug charges, Shermie committed suicide when he was 19, and Violet was forgotten by everyone. Boy…that took a dark turn at the end…Merry Christmas!
